The Rio-Antirio bridge ("Charilaos Trikoupis") is a cable-stayed bridge across the Gulf of Corinth.  It holds the world’s longest cable-stayed suspended deck: 2,880 meters.  It was officially opened during the 2004 Summer Olympics -- the torch runners were the first to cross the entire length.

Design and construction were full of engineering feats, due to deep water, loose sediment, and plate tectonics.
