Roots Hall Stadium, located in the heart of Southend, has for a long time been the home stadium of local football team Southend United. The ground has seen a number of famous matches, most notably a 1-0 win over Manchester United in the Carling Cup, and leading Chelsea in an FA Cup replay, before eventually going down 1-0. The stadium, with a capacity of 12,000, is the largest in Essex, and as such is a suitable venue for the Final of the Essex Senior Cup on most years.
