The Davis-Monthan Air Force Base is home to the 309th Aerospace Maintenance and Regeneration Group (AMARG), a massive military aircraft graveyard commonly refered to as "The Boneyard".  It's home to over 4,400 planes and has been designated as the "sole repository" for all out-of-service aircraft from all branches of the military.  Although some aircraft are held for long-term storage (and possible re-activation), most are broken down for salvage parts or scrap.
